WHY ARE WE CHANGING OUR NAME TO MOSAIC CHRISTIAN COLLEGE?
Founding and Relocation: After founding West Coast Bible College & Seminary in Los Angeles in 2006, we moved to Texas in 2007 to operate out of Victorious Life Church in Waco, where Dr. Kevin Harrison served as lead pastor until August 2015. During this time, the college grew and established a strong foundation within the church, reaching students nationwide and worldwide.
Mission Expansion: Over the years, we expanded far beyond our original location and church base. Our mission to create disciples of Christ without creating disciples of debt remains steadfast as we continue to reach a diverse and global student body.
Embracing a New Identity: With our new name, Mosaic Christian College, we are adopting an identity that reflects our global impact and diversity, aligning with our vision to unite people from all backgrounds in the Body of Christ.
Resolving Brand Confusion: In 2019, we faced an unexpected challenge when a company we hired to help with accreditation misused our content and launched another online college named West Coast Bible College. This confused students and partners, making distinguishing our institution from this new entity difficult.
Clear Distinction and Representation: To address this issue, we’ve chosen to rebrand as Mosaic Christian College, a name that not only helps set us apart but also encapsulates our mission to serve a diverse community united in Christ.
WHY “MOSAIC” CHRISTIAN COLLEGE?
Our new name, Mosaic Christian College, is inspired by 1 Corinthians 12 and reflects the beautiful diversity within the Body of Christ—people from every background and corner of the world coming together to form a unified whole in God’s Kingdom. This change better represents our vision and positions us to serve even more people globally. Our logo captures this concept with a mosaic pattern that symbolizes the unity within diversity that defines our mission. We are not ashamed of our identity as Christians; in fact, we are proud to stand boldly for the Kingdom of God.
At Mosaic Christian College, we see ourselves as part of a larger picture—a Kingdom picture. Each piece of the mosaic represents individuals and communities united in purpose, all pointing toward the ultimate goal: bringing glory to God.
WHAT WAS THE PROCESS OF CHANGING THE NAME?
The decision to change our name to Mosaic Christian College was made through a careful and thorough process, with unanimous support at every level:
Board, Administration, and Faculty Discussions: Since early 2024, we held extensive discussions with our board, administration, and certain faculty members. Everyone fully supported the new direction and agreed that the name change would benefit the college.
Student Feedback: We contacted several current and former students to gather their perspectives. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, affirming that this change aligns with their vision for the college’s future.
External Consultation: We consulted with people outside the college, including marketing experts, to gain an objective perspective. Their unanimous feedback: the name change would strengthen our identity and better position us for growth.
This comprehensive process has given us full confidence that Mosaic Christian College will more accurately reflect our mission and broaden our impact on a global scale.
TRADEMARK AND IDENTITY
Trademark Protection: To protect our identity and ensure our uniqueness, we have taken the critical step of trademarking the name Mosaic Christian College. This legal measure safeguards our brand and mission, allowing us to operate confidently and clearly, free from the risk of confusion or misuse by other entities.
Distinct from Mosaic Church: It’s important to note that Mosaic Christian College is not affiliated with the Mosaic Church movement. While we share a common Christian foundation, our name was intentionally chosen to reflect the diversity within the Body of Christ, as described in 1 Corinthians 12.
Symbol of Unity and Diversity: The name Mosaic embodies our commitment to unity in diversity—bringing people from all backgrounds together as one in God’s Kingdom. It represents our mission to serve a broad, global community as a distinct educational institution dedicated to equipping disciples of Christ worldwide.
WHAT IS STAYING THE SAME?
Our mission statement, “Creating disciples of Christ, without creating disciples of debt,” will remain unchanged. Our team, degrees, and commitment to affordable, high-quality Christian education remain the same.
WHAT ABOUT THE NAME “SEMINARY?”
“Seminary” will no longer be part of our name, but the seminary will remain intact. We are naming the seminary, and that will be released soon. All seminary degrees and courses will remain. In fact, we will be expanding upon both in future years.
HOW WILL THIS AFFECT YOU?
WCBCS Degree Validity: If you graduated from West Coast Bible College & Seminary, this name change will not affect the validity of your degree. It remains fully recognized and unchanged.
Institutional Continuity: We are the same institution with the same mission, team, and commitment to excellence—only the name is changing.
Diploma Update Option: If you would like a new diploma featuring the Mosaic Christian College name, you can order one starting in early 2025. The cost for the updated diploma will be $50.
NEW OFFICE LOCATION AND STRUCTURE
In another exciting development, we’ve leased office space at One Empire Place, 1327 Empire Central Dr, Suite 115, Dallas, Texas, 75247. This is our first dedicated office outside a church, marking a new chapter for us. We will also operate as a 501(c)(3) under Casa do Oleiro International Ministries, a ministry also led by our President/CEO, Dr. Kevin Harrison.
